THE TOWNS THE COUNTRYSIDE IL MARE
THE TOWNS
The Iblea region is renowned for the harmonious and pure Baroque architecture that characterizes its old towns. Following the earthquake of 1693, all the towns were rebuilt in Baroque style with some of the most exquisite Baroque buildings and churches of Europe. Many of them are UNESCO Heritage Sites. Just to mention some of them: Ragusa-Ibla, Modica, Scicli, Ispica, Comiso, Noto. Or, slightly outside the Iblea region, one can see Caltagirone and its famed ceramics, Palazzolo Acreide and Piazza Armerina, world famous for its impressive mosaics housed in a Roman Villa.

THE COUNTRYSIDE
The Iblean landscapes are unique: with fields of old olive and carob trees separated by handmade stone walls. The Iblea region has many natural parks, reserves and archaeological parks where it is very pleasant to go for walks, despite its small area. Pantalica and Cava d’Ispica are definitely two the important archaeological sites immerged in nature that one should discover.

THE SEASIDE
Thanks to the position of the Iblea region, which is further South than Tunis, in Tunisia, one can swim until late October, and year round, for the most courageous. The entire coast is characterized by golden sandy beaches, set in their beautiful coves, and by the beautiful natural reserves of the Irminio river delta and the Forestale Park, near Randello.
